Our philosophy

Lithies began two generations ago, when Grandfather Lefteris and Grandmother Soula cultivated the land beside the Vasilikos forest and, together with their children, built the first traditional villas. A few years later, in 1991, Fotini and Dionysis brought the farm’s taverna to life.

Today, Lithies is a living, breathing farm. It features eight independent, traditional, fully equipped villas, a vast olive grove, vineyards, a vegetable garden, and of course its permanent “residents”: little goats, chickens, rabbits, and our two donkeys, Panagis and Poulia.

Just a few minutes from the sea, on this very land, around 600 olive trees were planted more than 70 years ago, alongside just 10 ancient trees that have stood here for over 250 years. Grandfather also dreamed of making wine, so he planted the first vineyard on the estate. Today, the farm is home to approximately 800 olive trees and vineyards of Robola, Syrah and Cabernet varieties.

The children and grandchildren of the family continue to care for the land with the same respect and love. The vegetable garden is tended daily by Dionysis, and our guests are welcome to harvest their own fresh produce—the sweetest tomatoes, the crunchiest cucumbers—for a truly authentic Greek village salad.

At the edge of the farm, where the land meets the forest, you’ll find our taverna. There, Vaggelio, Dionysis’s sister, cooks traditional dishes using ingredients from the farm: stuffed peppers and eggplants grown right here, and comforting, home-style meals that taste just like mom’s cooking. The calm, peaceful courtyard makes our taverna the perfect place for a summer evening in the village of Vasilikos.
